One of the two ports of the island, St. Marina is a small bay settlement that was expanded over time and merged with Platanos, the most ancient settlement and capital of the island. The merged settlement is the administrative and commercial center of the island.
From a distance it looks like a small town that spreads amphitheatrically between two mountains, with houses that spread from the beach up to the side of the Castle hill.
As we get closer, the town unfolds its beauty one by one.
The introduction to St. Marina starts from the port with Brouzi fort in its entrance and the light tower on its edge, the wide marina and graphical port with the historical wind mill of Leros which is very well preserved.
In the capital, many traditional one and two storie houses are preserved, between them many mansions, all very close to eachother that create narrow graphical alleys, daring us to wander in them. We meet the nostalgic atmosphere of the old town, the Avlaki with running clean water of Paliaskloupi spring or the old wind mill. The Municipality is hosted by two neoclassical buildings that dominate the settlement. Old and remarcable churches of Christ and Cross, while the church of St. Paraskevi that waw the Metropolis of the island has also historical interrest.
St. Marina is the capital of the Municipality. In St. Marina the Italian and Neoclassical buildings which are used for utility services, give its character.
In the port the passenger ships are arriving when the weather is bad on the main port of Lakki.
There are quite a few tourist shops, restaurants, cafeterias, bars and in general is the ideal area for night entertainment / night life.
